There are many reasons for the breakage of the graphite ring, mainly the following.
 
(1) The rubber seal or the Teflon V-ring is too tightly fitted with the graphite ring and the static ring seat, and the graphite is crushed and fractured under dynamic conditions.
 
(2) The impact is too heavy when the seal chamber and the pump body are installed, or the pump seal chamber is severely tilted.
 
(3) The swing and the amount of the shaft exceed the specified value.
 
(4) The sealing water is interrupted, the friction is dry, the temperature rise is too high, the sealing ring is thermally cracked, and the sealing water is suddenly sent, so that the sealing ring is severely shrunk and broken.
 
The main causes of moving ring cracks are as follows:
 
(1) The hard alloy moving ring has a large stress. When the moving ring is running, cracks occur under the combined action of external force and internal force. These cracks are dense fine cracks that diverge in the radial direction.
 
(2) Temperature influence: non-metallic materials are used as sealing rings (such as ceramics, WC). Due to poor heat conduction, the temperature distribution inside the ring is extremely uneven. Even under normal conditions, the temperature difference may reach several hundred degrees, due to the temperature difference. , which in turn causes thermal deformation to cause thermal stress. When the thermal stress reaches a certain level, the stress is exceeded beyond the strength limit of the material. At this time, the sealing ring of the brittle material tends to cause surface cracking, which in turn causes the frictional wear of the sealing surface to be intensified and fails. Since the thermal deformation also distort the gap of the sealing surface to be sealed, the leakage is increased.
 
When the end face of the moving ring is made of hard alloy, the thermal expansion coefficient of these materials is small, and the thermal expansion coefficient of the base material is quite different (the stainless steel has a thermal expansion coefficient higher than that of the hard alloy by 3 to 4 times), so when the sealing temperature is high, When the temperature exceeds a certain value, it will cause deformation or crack of the hardfacing ring of the weld overlay.
 
In order to solve the effective measures of dynamic and static cracking and deformation, in addition to strictly controlling the quality of spare parts processing, careful installation and maintenance, and strengthening operation management, it is an important measure to ensure that the sealing end face can be fully lubricated and cooled. However, in the actual operation of the dense busway, sufficient lubrication and cooling are not guaranteed at all times. The fluctuation of the sealing water pressure, the interruption and the misoperation of the workers will cause the seal to lose sufficient lubrication and cooling.
