Assistant General Manager of CSIC, Chairman of Haizhuang Wind Power, Yang Benxin, Director of National Offshore Wind Power Engineering Technology Research Center, Deputy General Manager of Haizhuang Wind Power, Deputy Director of National Offshore Wind Power Engineering Technology Research Center, Dr. Tao Youchuan, Member of Standing Committee of Dunhuang Municipal Committee, Executive Deputy Mayor Xiaowei Wei, Vice Chairman of the Dunhuang CPPCC, and other leaders attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the Yadan Island Microgrid Project. Meng Li, deputy general manager of Haizhuang Wind Power and general manager of China Shipbuilding (Beijing) New Energy Investment Co., Ltd., presided over the ceremony.
 
The Yadan Island Microgrid Project is developed by the National Offshore Wind Power Engineering Technology Research Center. The offshore wind power is invested and constructed. It is mainly equipped with three 200KW variable pitch wind turbines and photovoltaic power generation, and is composed of a power unit with a total capacity of 1MW. “Energy storage system, energy dispatching and management system, intelligent monitoring system, safety system”, etc., provide stable and reliable power supply for the Yadan National Geological Park tourist scenic spot for 24 hours a day. The commissioning of the project will greatly improve the power quality of Yadan Scenic Spot, promote the development of tourism resources, and at the same time realize the breakthrough of “zero” in wind power development in Dunhuang.
 
The project's technical director and research and development center Dr. Dong Yihong introduced that the system is the first commercial island microgrid in China with a centralized DC bus architecture. It has “system stability, seamless switching between power sources, and good compatibility with renewable energy”. Etc. This technology can keep the power supply safe and reliable through the optimal configuration of various energy sources such as wind power and photovoltaic, as well as advanced management and control of energy storage systems and power distribution systems. The power supply has a strong anti-disturbance capability, and the power supply can be kept stable even when the wind speed is abruptly changed or the large-capacity load is switched. At the same time, the system adopts intelligent scheduling algorithm, which can maximize the use of renewable energy such as wind energy and photovoltaic, and minimize the starting frequency of the spare diesel generator. The system's modular and compatible design allows for easy expansion and easy access to other types of renewable energy when needed.
 
The silo microgrid technology development is based on solving the problem of power supply in remote areas such as islands, border defenses and remote access. It has strong compatibility and environmental adaptability and can be used in a variety of landscapes and environments. The project has a positive demonstration role in reducing power generation costs in remote areas and improving power quality. This has important promotional value in the context of China's accelerated “One Belt, One Road” construction strategy.
